CountryPami's Story

I was a pack a day smoker for 24 years. I smoked my last traditional cigarette on March 1st, 2012... 14 days prior to my 40th birthday. I would not/could not have done this without my e-cig. I was introduced to them by a friend in Feb of 2012 and will forever be grateful.

I started out with a $15 "cig-a-like" styled e-cig. I used 24mg pre-filled cartomizers. I had 2 packs of traditional cigs left when I got my e-cig. I began by trading every other traditional cig for the e-cig... then I moved up to 2 e-cig for every 1 traditional cig and so on. Within 3 days I completely quit traditional cigs and never looked back.

Prior to quitting traditional cigarettes... I was an asthmatic, borderline COPD, with chronic bronchitis and sinusitis. Since quitting traditional cigs and switching to Vaping... I haven't used an inhaler since 2012, I no longer have any wheezing when I breathe, I have not had any bouts of bronchitis or sinusitis. I feel healthier, smell better, and my energy level has increased.
*UPDATE 12/17: I've been vaping for 5+ years now and have seen no ill side effects of any kind.
**UPDATE 9/19: I've been vaping for 7+ years now and still have seen no ill side effects.
***UPDATE 2/23: I've been vaping for 11+ years now and still have not seen any ill side effects.

I KEPT IT SIMPLE!. I didn't go for the big guns right outta the gate.. I gave myself time to get used to vaping and an array of juice flavors before I moved on to Clearomizers or Tanks or Mods. I got a USB hub and had several 510 auto stick batteries in rotation.

After about 3-4 months.. I stepped up to e-liquid and ce2's. When I made that switch I moved to NON tobacco flavored juices. (Give me a tobacco flavored juice today and I GAG!) It wasn't until about Feb. of 2013 that I finally stepped up again to Ego/EVOD type batteries and tanks/clearomizers. I wanted to keep it fairly simple... I've found there are some pretty complicated devices out there in Vapeland.

August 2013 - I lowered my nicotine level to 18mg and bought my first Variable Voltage (VV) battery. I bought my first MOD in December of 2013. Today my collection has grown to over 60 Ego/Evod style batteries and 20+ MOD's.

Fall 2013 - I discovered Vaughn / Vapers.tv / Nova. I quickly became a permanent fixture in all of the prime time shows. I saw a need for a reliable, consistent viewer to step up and assist the hosts by posting web and winner links for the sponsors. I began copying and saving all posts until I had a complete list of all the sponsor links for the shows. It wasn't long until the "Link Ninja" emerged. I supported one show, then two... then soon began supporting all of the other prime time hosts. On 2/15/14 Nova graciously honored me by making me a MOD for their network - Despite the fact that I was not a show host. My journey would not have been the same without them.

January 2014 - I went on a mission to find a way to store my juice collection without taking up a lot of space on my desk. This journey led me to discover a wire wall rack that is actually intended for nail polish, but works perfectly for up to 50ml size plastic bottles of juice. I bought one, hung it, filled it up. I was so impressed with this rack that I began sharing a picture and the link to buy it with other vapers. One by one, vapers in our community began to buy them also. Before I knew it, "Countrypami's Big Juicy Rack" was born and is now widely known throughout the vaping community. I have 2 of them on my wall. *UPDATE 12/17: With the recent changes in bottle styles/sizes, the newer unicorn style bottles will only fit on the top shelf of these racks. Glass bottles, 50ml and larger do not fit in the racks but can be leaned back on the top shelf.

March 2014 - I lowered my nicotine level to 12mg. I feel comfortable at this level and I am in no hurry to drop again.

May 2014 - I was once again honored when I was asked to be a moderator for the Vaping Underground Forum - part of the VaporJoes Network.

November 2014 - I left the Nova network and moved over to the Vaping Underground Live. I am a MOD there and have been with them since it’s conception.

Spring 2015 - I again lowered my nicotine level and I am now vaping at 3mg - 6mg.

June 2015 - I launched the CountryPami's World of Vaping Blog.

July 2015 - I finally took the plunge into sub-ohming. Now, I am not an advocate for sub-ohming.. in fact, I've been pretty much the opposite. But I decided to finally give it a try. I got an Aspire Triton V1 Sub-Ohm Tank (I figured this was a safe bet for me since it will also take 1.8 ohm coils.) and a Cool Fire IV. At .4 ohm and 24.5 watts it's a good vape.

September 2015 - I went to my very first Vape Meet - VAPE MANIA in Winston-Salem, NC. What an adventure! I was lucky enough to have a fabulous roommate (y'all know her as 3Dog). And I was generously chauffeured by Jeremy and Jen Colvin (Lucidious Rage/Crafty Buckeye). The reception when we arrived at the hotel was heart warming. It was fantastic to finally meet in person so many of the folks I'd been calling "friend" for 2 years. It was fun, manic, chaotic, exhausting... so many vendors, friends, fellow vapers... I'll treasure the memories forever!

March 2016 - I began working as the Social Media Manager for a very popular e-liquid company.

May 2016 - VU Live moved its broadcast to YouTube.

April 2017 - Not much has changed over the last year. Although the online vape community seems to have dwindled some... I'm still very active with VU Live, and with the Vaping Underground Forum. I'm vaping mostly 3mg nic now. And I'm still working as a Social Media Manager for the same e-liquid company.

December 2017 - It's been a year of ups and downs for the industry. With the FDA regulations dropping, a lot of the innovation has came to a halt. Sadly, many shops have been forced to close their doors due to these same regulations. The vaping shows are at a minimum now. Viewership is significantly less. But there are still a few good shows about.  As for me, I'm still here... doing my thing. Hunting deals, taking vapemail pics... and spending the majority of my time in the Vaping Underground Forum modding and assisting other vapers. I love helping the new follks and making sure they have all the educated information they need. I'm also dabbling in DIY e-liquid now... haven't made any award winners yet, but I'm learning. I'm still vaping at 3mg, maybe 2018 will see me at 0mg!

September 2018 - Well, the war on Vaping is still going on. Most of the FDA regs are now being enforced. We've seen more shops go under due to the new regs. However, innovation seems to be on the upswing. Lots of new devices and tanks are coming out every day. We have "Pod" systems now. These are "closed" systems which are basically a plastic tank attached to an internal battery. These are typically MTL. Some are refillable, some the coil can be switched out, and some are designed more as disposable. Since early spring we have been in a fight to save the availability of flavors in Vaping. I'm sure this will be an ongoing battle for quite some time. The ability to change flavors often is WHAT MAKES VAPING WORK! The words "vape", "vaper", and "vaping" can now be found in the dictionary. Does that mean they are finally seeing it as a real, permanent thing? LOL
Me? Not much has changed since my last update. There are only a handful of shows that still air. I no longer link any of them. The forum continues to grow and is very active. I'm still doing social media. I haven't gotten into DIY as much as I wanted to. There are so many juices that I like, it's just simpler for me to buy them. I still vape at 3mg, I'm comfortable here. I'm not sure when I'll take the plunge to 1.5mg or 0mg.

September 2019 - It's all out war on Vaping. 2 states (Michigan, New York) have now banned the sale of all flavored e-liquids except for tobacco and menthol. President Trump is pushing forward a federal ban on all e-liquid flavors except for tobacco. (Those flavors that have been approved through the PMTA process will be allowed to remain on the market.) This falls on the heels of approximately 500 vapers that became ill (5 died) after vaping BLACK MARKET, THC cartridges that were cut with Vitamin E oil. NEVER VAPE ANY TYPE OF OIL! This was NOT traditional PG/VG/NIC/FLAVORING e-liquid that 5+ million vapers have been using for over 10 years with ZERO deaths. But, I have faith the community will find a safe work around. The biggest change in the last year is the addition of "salt nics". I have not tried them and don't fully understand them yet. What I do know is that they are not actually salt, they come in much stronger concentrations, and they are said to mimic the head rush you get from a traditional cigarette. As for me... At the end of August, after 5+ years, I was asked to be an Administrator in the Vaping Underground Forum. I'm still vaping on the same style of gear, mostly single 18650 mods and my Kanger subtanks. Although, I own more gear than any one person could ever need! I'm still not ready to give up nic completely, so I remain at 3mg nic. I'm also still employed by the same juice company. Only 2 shows remain now on VU Live and a few over on IVlog.

February 2023 - Well, in a few days I will have been vaping for 11 years. And for the record, I have not one ailment or side effect to show from it. I'm still at 3mg, still using my Kanger's and iSub's (Although they have gotten extremely hard to find.) VU Live hasn't broadcasted a show for about 2 years. There's a few stragglers scattered about the interwebs, but nothing that draws more than a handful of viewers. The forum has gone from 1000's of viewers a day to 50. Most states have banned flavored e-cigs and the shipping of any vape related product. Between the FDA deadlines and new laws passed, a good 60-70% of vape websites and shops have been forced to close. This is what big tobacco wanted, they now own the market. It's what I would call "the Apocalypse of Vaping". It's sad to see how quickly we went from 1000's of active vapers/shops/shop owners online to just a handful of holdouts. This will probably be my last update here. With the online community essentially annihilated, there's nothing left to tell about. I wish any smoker making the switch the best of luck!  You'll find me over here doing my critter thing >> https://www.youtube.com/c/CountryPami .

This has been my journey thus far... my hope is that my story will educate and encourage other smokers to switch to the 95% safer option of Vaping rather than smoking.

I love a great deal on anything Vape related and keep a photo journal of all my Vape-mail. You can check it out here: Vape-mail photo journal.

I consider myself a vape enthusiast... I'm an active vape advocate and proud to call myself a vaper! Vaping is a lot of trial and error. I had to try many different set-ups/flavors to find what I liked and what worked best for me. You can see my list of my favorite gear here CountryPami's Gear. There is no right or wrong way to do it. You just have to take the time and effort to figure out what works best for you!

CountryPami's Juicy Rack Gets a Makeover!

It was time for the juicy rack to get a makeover. Most juice bottles sold today no longer fit in the previous racks. (See CountryPami's Juicy Rack for previous versions of the racks and the story behind it all.)  So once again I went on a hunt for the perfect way to store it all. A media cabinet turned out to be the perfect solution... only 9 inches deep, 7 inches of space between the 4 adjustable shelves, 6 inches at top and bottom shelves, and 48" high. It fits on top of my desk without taking up the whole desktop. I purchased mine on Amazon, however at the time of this writing it was out of stock. But this gives you an idea to start from if you're looking for a new way to store all that vape gear and juice.

Vaping 101

There are two styles types of vaping...
  • MTL = Tighter draw, coil ohm 1.0 or higher
  • DL (aka: Subohm) = Looser draw, more clouds, coil ohm .9 or lower

A setup contains 5 main components...

  1. Mod
  2. Battery
  3. Tank
  4. Coil
  5. Eliquid / ejuice

What you need to know about the Mod...

  • The mod is the main component of any Vape. It’s the device that holds either the internal or external battery. It also contains all the buttons or screen for operating the device.
  • First you need to know what the minimum ohm resistance of your mod is. What that means, is the lowest ohm coil your device is capable of handling. You can put any tank you want on the mod so long as the coil ohms are above the Mods minimum ohm resistance. (Never put a tank on a mod without knowing the mods minimum ohm resistance.)
  • The mod controls the wattage or temperature of the vape.
  • What type of battery does the mod take or is it an internal battery? There are 1000's of options on the market today. My preference is single 18650 or internal battery mods.

What you need to know about the Battery…

  • BATTERY SAFETY IS CRITICAL! Let me repeat that BATTERY SAFETY IS CRITICAL!! Please refer to Mooch for all questions about battery safety and limitations.   Mooch on the Vaping Underground  /  Mooch on ECF
  • Be sure to handle your batteries properly.  NEVER PUT A BATTERY IN YOUR POCKET or PURSE WHERE IT CAN CONTACT OTHER METAL… IT CAN EXPLODE!
  • Battery Mah is the life length of the battery. The higher the Mah, the longer the battery lasts between charges.
  • For use in Vaping it is recommended that your battery be a minimum of 20 amp continuous (For more info refer to Mooch’s links above).
  • An internal battery is typically lithium and can range anywhere from 400 Mah to 5500 Mah. It cannot be removed or exchanged from the mod. This would include Pods and Egos.
  • 18650 / 20700 / 21700 / 26650 batteries are separate from the device and are typically charged outside the mod on a battery charger.  Chargers I recommend: eFest LUC V4 or the Nitecore Intellicharger i4.

What you need to know about the Tank…
  • The Tank is the part of your setup that holds the eliquid. It screws into the 510 or Ego connection on the top of the mod.
  • Typically they are comprised of Metal, glass, drip tip, and a coil.
  • Tanks range in style and size. They can hold anywhere from 2 to 8 mls of eliquid.
  • Choosing a tank is a matter of personal preference. But be sure to know your mods minimum ohm resistance when picking the coil ohm for your tank.
  • I do recommend a tank with factory made coils for all beginners. This is the simplest starting setup, and less overwhelming.
  • When you purchase a tank, be sure to order extra coils with it.  (Something like the Kanger Toptank... extra coils come in 5 packs and run about $10-14. These coils typically last about 2 weeks of steady use.)

What you need to know about the Coil…
  • The Coil is the springy metal, ceramic, or mesh component that heats and vaporizes the eliquid. They come in numerous ohm levels and a variety of metals.
  • You can purchase factory made coils or make them yourself (Typically only done when using an RDA).
  • Most coils are proprietary to a single tank. However, some coils (like the Aspire Atlantis coils) can be used in other tanks that they were not designed for.
  • The majority of factory made coils will either be NiCr, Kanthal, or Stainless Steel (Do not use NiCr coils if you are allergic to Nickel.)
  • With the variety of today's tanks, a coil head can contain a single coil on up to the more advanced 8 coils.
  • Coils need to be primed...
           - To prime a coil you add a couple drops of eliquid straight into the coil.
           - Assemble and fill the tank.
           - After the coil has sat in the filled tank for a few minutes and is FULLY
SATURATED... you start at a low wattage and fire the mod a couple times.
           - Repeat this process several more times increasing the wattage a little each time
until you reach the preferred vaping wattage.
  • Be sure to stay below or within the manufacturers recommended wattage for your coil.
  • Once you have burnt a cotton coil, kiss it goodbye. You will NEVER get that burnt taste out.
  • Change your coil when the juice no longer tastes good or burnt after a period of use. Depending on the eliquid, device settings, and amount of use this could range anywhere from 4/5 days to a month.

What you need to know about Eliquid / Ejuice…
  • What is in eliquid / ejuice… http://countrypami.blogspot.com/p/whats-in-eliquid.html
  • Choosing your eliquid is completely by taste preference but here are a couple main points.
  • If you choose a MTL setup, you're going to want an eliquid that has a higher PG ratio. Usually 50PG/50VG or higher PG.
  • If you choose a DL setup, you'll want the opposite, higher VG content. Typically 30PG/70VG or higher VG.
  • Most people start by choosing eliquids that are things they eat/drink in real life. But watch out for cherry or chocolate, they don't translate well in vapes.
  • Recommended Nicotine content:
           - MTL - typically 12mg - 24mg
           - DL - 0mg - 6mg
           - Nic Salts are used primarily in the newer closed POD systems. They are much
higher in concentration and should not be confused with the regular nic that is
             in most eliquids.

You can find the setups I recommend to beginners here on my blog:
http://countrypami.blogspot.com/p/countrypamis-gear.html

Recommended Gear and eliquid vendors are listed on the right hand side of my main blog page.

I also highly recommend that if you're gonna give this a serious go, get a backup setup. You'll want to have another setup available while one is charging or in case of device/tank failure.

Why Are Mod Designs So Masculine and Futuristic?

I don't often make a post of a personal nature... but I've been noticing this issue for quite some time now and decided to post it up here for all to see.

Why are mod designs so masculine and futuristic?  No offense to the gents out there, I'm sure y'all love the designs.  But, where are the prettier, fancier, blingier (is that a word?) mods for the ladies????

I love getting new mods, but I am sick to death of them all being these unattractive, boxy, futuristic, robotic, techno designs.  Not to mention the same 6 bold colors... silver, black, grey, blue, red, and green.  Once in a while they'll throw a purple into the mix.  Well, really it's fuscia, but China calls it purple.

The current market designs weigh very heavily to the masculine side... probably 90% masculine and only 10% more feminine designs.  Has the industry forgotten that WOMEN VAPE TOO?  That some of us lady vapers might like a more feminine, fancier mod?  Why not some softer shapes, fancy laser etching, a few blingy stones, some glittery paint, or some pastel colors?  What lady wants to go to a fancy special event, wedding, or out on a date with something that looks like it came out of a 22nd century spaceship in her hand?!?  I sure as heck don't!

So there ya have it... that's how I feel... I hope I'm not alone in feeling this way.  Hopefully some of the mod manufacturers like Kangertech, Innokin, eLeaf, Aspire, or Smok will get it together and make something a little more special for us lady vapers.

American Cancer Society Releases Position Statement on E-Cigs

The American Cancer Society just released the below position statement on e-cigs. This is a HUGE step forward in our fight to prove how much less harmful Vaping is than smoking!
You can view the original statement HERE.

============

"American Cancer Society Position Statement on Electronic Cigarettes
The American Cancer Society Board of Directors approved the following position statement on electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) in February 2018. The position statement will be used to guide ACS’s tobacco control and cessation efforts as it relates to these products.

ACS Position Statement on Electronic Cigarettes
Combustible tobacco products, primarily cigarettes, are the single greatest cause of cancer and kill about 7 million people worldwide each year.  In the United States, 98% of all tobacco-related deaths are caused by cigarette smoking.  The U.S. tobacco landscape has changed rapidly in recent years, with millions of consumers now using electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), the most prominent of which are electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes).  E-cigarettes contain heated nicotine extracted from tobacco, as well as a variety of flavorings and other additives.

Scientific Summary: Based on currently available evidence, using current generation e-cigarettes is less harmful than smoking cigarettes, but the health effects of long-term use are not known.  The American Cancer Society (the ACS) recognizes our responsibility to closely monitor and synthesize scientific knowledge about the effects of all tobacco products, including e-cigarettes and any new products derived from tobacco.  As new evidence emerges, the ACS will promptly report these findings to policy makers, the public and clinicians.

Clinical Recommendations: The ACS has always supported any smoker who is considering quitting, no matter what approach they use; there is nothing more important that they can do for their health.  To help smokers quit, the ACS recommends that clinicians advise their patients to use FDA-approved cessation aids that have been proven to support successful quit attempts. Many smokers choose to quit smoking without the assistance of a clinician and some opt to use e-cigarettes to accomplish this goal. The ACS recommends that clinicians support all attempts to quit the use of combustible tobacco and work with smokers to eventually stop using any tobacco product, including e-cigarettes.  Some smokers, despite firm clinician advice, will not attempt to quit smoking cigarettes and will not use FDA approved cessation mediations.  These individuals should be encouraged to switch to the least harmful form of tobacco product possible; switching to the exclusive use of e-cigarettes is preferable to continuing to smoke combustible products.  Of course, these individuals should be regularly advised to completely quit using all tobacco products.  The ACS strongly discourages the concurrent (or “dual”) use of e-cigarettes and combustible cigarettes, a behavior that is far more detrimental to a person’s health compared to the substantial health benefit of quitting smoking.

Policy Recommendations: The American Cancer Society recommends implementing polices and public health measures known to prevent the initiation and use of all tobacco products, including appropriate taxation, retail policies (e.g., raising the minimum age of purchase to 21), tobacco and e-cigarette aerosol-free policies and funding of evidence-based prevention and cessation programs.  The ACS strongly recommends that every effort be made to prevent the initiation of e-cigarettes by youth.  The use of products containing nicotine in any form among youth is unsafe and can harm brain development. Furthermore, evidence indicates that young e-cigarette users are at increased risk for both starting to smoke and becoming long-term users of combustible tobacco products.

The ACS encourages the FDA to regulate all tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, to the full extent of its authority, and to determine the absolute and relative harms of each product.  The FDA should assess whether e-cigarettes help to reduce tobacco-related morbidity and mortality, and the impact of marketing of e-cigarettes on consumer perceptions and behavior.  Any related regulatory regime should include post-marketing surveillance to monitor the long-term effects of these products and ensure the FDA’s actions have the intended health outcome of significantly reducing disease and death.  Furthermore, the FDA should use its authorities to reduce the toxicity, addictiveness and appeal of tobacco products currently on the market.  The ACS also applauds the FDA for recognizing its significant role as a science-based agency in helping to address the addictiveness of nicotine in cigarettes.  Reducing nicotine in all combustible tobacco products to below addictive levels holds the potential to significantly accelerate reductions in the use of combustible tobacco products, which remain by far the leading preventable cause of cancer and preventable death in the United States."

New Vaping Study Shows No Harm

Landmark Long-Term Study on Vaping by Never-Smokers Finds No Negative Health Impacts

Despite fears of activists, no harm seen after three and a half years of vaping
LONDON, ENGLAND -- In a first of its kind long-term study published in the journal Nature, researchers have found no negative health impacts from the daily use of electronic cigarettes by young adult never-smokers.

Researchers from the University of Catania, led by Dr. Riccardo Polosa, tracked nine electronic cigarette users with no history of smoking, as well as twelve lifetime non-smokers and non-vapers, over the course of three and a half years. The researchers found no impact on a variety of health outcomes, including blood pressure, heart rate, lung function, exhaled breath nitric oxide, exhaled carbon monoxide, and CT scans of the lungs.

“In spite of previous health scares, our study shows for the first time no risk in long-term vapers who have never smoked in their life,” said Polosa, who presented the study at the fifth annual E-Cigarette Summit in the United Kingdom on Friday, November 17th.

Polosa notes that while even longer-term research is needed to rule out any possible negative impacts, changes in spirometry and CT scans can be seen in young smokers after approximately two years of cigarette usage. With the vapers, no signs of lung damage, including COPD, lipoid pneumonia, and popcorn lung, were found in CT scans, even among the study participants with the highest consumption of e-liquid.

In the United States, far less than 1% of adult never-smokers are current vapers, with an even smaller proportion reporting vaping daily, according to the CDC’s 2015 National Health Interview Survey. Despite this, much of the concern in the media and scientific circles revolve around fears of the impact of vaping on nonsmokers.

“Mouse and cell studies may generate salacious headlines about the supposed dangers of vaping, but they are no replacement for studies on actual humans,” said Gregory Conley, President of the American Vaping Association, a nonprofit that advocates for truthful information about vapor products. “If no negative health impacts can be seen from daily vaping among those who previously did not smoke, how is it ethical to continue warning smokers away from using these products?”

In addition to this groundbreaking research, Polosa also recently published a review of the evidence on the impact of vapor products on COPD patients.

Vaping Could Save 6.6 Million American Smokers

Major U.S. Study: Vaping Could Save 6.6 Million American Smokers

Even under worse case assumptions, vaping still saves lives, finds multi-university research study
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- In what could turn out to be a transformative moment in the debate over vaping in America, a research team led by investigators from Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center is now estimating that vaping could save the lives of up to 6.6 million U.S. smokers over the next 10 years. On the basis of this evidence, the researchers are recommending that public health organizations adopt a strategy of encouraging smokers to switch to vaping to hasten the decline of America’s smoking rate.
Published in the journal Tobacco Control, the study is the first to model the best and worst case outcomes of U.S. smokers switching to vaping. In establishing their variables, the researchers considered a range of factors, including differing estimates on the relative harm of vapor products versus cigarettes, as well as the impact of vaping on cessation, switching, and initiation, including by nonusers.
In the most pessimistic scenario tested by the researchers, a strategy of replacing cigarettes with vaping is calculated to save 1.6 million lives, or 160,000 lives per year. (Read Reuters' report on the study).
"Even the gloomiest analysis shows a significant gain in years of life if nicotine is obtained from vaping instead of much more deadly amount of toxicants inhaled with cigarette smoke," said David Levy, a lead researcher and professor of oncology at Georgetown Lombardi. "Old policies need to be supplemented with policies that encourage substituting e-cigarettes for the far more deadly cigarettes."
The study, which involved researchers from Georgetown University, Yale University, the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, and others, was funded by the National Institutes of Health. In total, the researchers conclude that as many as 86.7 million years of life could be gained by smokers who make the switch during the ten year period modeled in the study.
Gregory Conley, President of the American Vaping Association, a nonprofit that champions vaping for smokers looking to quit, commented on the implications of the study:
“This study could represent a seismic shift in the way the FDA and public health groups look at vaping. For years, harm reduction advocates have relied on quality research from independent European researchers and non-government organizations, only to be told that such research was somehow not trustworthy because the authors were not American. Now, we have some of the most respected American researchers in the field of tobacco control explaining in detail how vaping can and will save lives.”
“If there is a fault with this research, it is that it assumes that a functional vaping market will still exist in a decade. Unless FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb acts to reform the FDA’s outdated tobacco regulatory system, over 99% of vapor products could be banned in or before 2022. We are hopeful that studies like this will give Gottlieb the confidence he needs to truly modernize the way FDA regulates smoke-free nicotine products."
Other research highlights from this week:
  • Banning e-cigarette flavors, with or without a corresponding ban on menthol cigarettes, could harm public health by discouraging adult smokers from quitting. That is according to research conducted by the Yale School of Public Health and the Centre for Health Policy at the Imperial College in London, the results of which are being distributed the National Bureau of Economic Research. (MarketWatch coverage).
  • Among young adults in the Chicago area, e-cigarette use was not associated with later cigarette smoking, according to research published by the journal Addiction.

We are dedicated to educating the public and government officials about public health benefits offered by vapor products, which are battery-powered devices that heat a liquid nicotine or nicotine-free solution and create an inhalable vapor.  The AVA is not a trade group and does not speak for any particular businesses, including our industry sponsors.

You can learn more about AVA and vaping by visiting the AVA website. You can also find us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

4 YEARS SMOKE FREE

4 years ago today I made the best decision of my life. I quit smoking and turned to Vaping.

I was a pack a day smoker for 24 years. I smoked my last analog cigarette on March 1st, 2012... 14 days prior to my 40th birthday. I would not/could not have done this without my e-cig.
I was introduced to Vaping by a friend in February of 2012 and will forever be grateful.

American Cancer Society - How did you Quit Smoking?

On August 11th, 2015 The American Cancer Society put up a post on Facebook asking us how we quit smoking. The response from the vaping community has been overwhelming. At the time of this blog post there was over 3,300 responses and a good 80% of them are from vapers.

I encourage each of you to click the picture below and tell the ACS your story. My hope is that the more vapers that respond, we will gain the POSITIVE attention of the ACS.
